Activity Title: Dimensions – thecentre:mk
A training scheme to help students find out what it would be like to work in a retail environment.

Who is the activity for: Young people aged 15+, max 25 per day
Number of hours/days: One day (5 hours)
Funded by: No charge to schools. Dimensions is funded by the Learning & Skills Council.
Programme outline Dimensions covers key issues such as security, employment rights, legal implications, stock control, CV and interview skills and team work. At the end of the course students receive a certificate for attending.
Strengths The retail environment is always looking for highly motivated people to work for their company and Dimensions gives the perfect opportunity to develop those skills and understanding of what a retailer is looking for in an employee.
Students learn about work through guest speakers such as store managers from the House of Fraser, BHS, Millets, etc. A selection of dates to choose from. Dimensions also offers an extra half-day course for those who are keen on retail, offering extra help in CV writing skills, interviewing techniques and supporting learners via email.

Number and range of users to date In total over 500 people have completed the Dimensions course and a third of those people have found jobs in retail.
