Activity Title: WorkOut! - Business People in the Classroom
  A guest speaker from the world of work visits classroom to answer general and specific questions about his/her experience in a given vocational area. Sessions can be tailored for close reference to a given curriculum area.

Who is the activity for: Year 10-13 students of all abilities.
Number of hours/days: One hour.
Funded by: £45 per session per group up to 30.
Programme outline Guest is introduced by name only and students have 20 closed questions to identify his/her occupation. On hearing more about the job, students compete to guess relevant Key Skills and Personal Qualities in priority order. Students then ask open questions. Guest then 'teaches' for 10-15 mins on a pre-set question relevant to the curriculum.

Criteria for assessing programme Learning activities recorded on Student Learning Record. Student Self-evaluation and Guest Speaker evaluation completed at end of the session, rating quality of ‘Learning’, ‘Enjoyment’ and ‘Preference for guest’s job’.
Number and range of users to date Operating since 2000. Delivered sessions to hundreds of students from various schools and alternative education providers including: Denbigh, Kingsbrooke, Leon, Manor Road Centre, Radcliffe, Sir Frank Markham, Walton, Young People Out of School project.
More feedback Consistently high student and guest speaker satisfaction ratings: 97% have agreed or strongly agreed they "enjoyed the session", 94% agreed or strongly agreed they 'learned from the session'.
