About Us
Career WorkOut!

We introduce young people to adults from a range of work backgrounds so they can find out what it's really like in that job.
Our popular WorkOut! sessions give students a few minutes each with a range of adults from the world of work, to ask questions about their personal experience of work. Students are usually in small groups of 3-4 and circulate around a carousel of employers, speed-dating style, spending 5-10 minutes with each guest. The whole session usually takes no longer than 1-2 hours, including some time for guests to network with one another.
The aim of WorkOut! is for students is simply to find out as much as they can from each guest about his/her experience of work. Also, to practise basic employability skills including face-to-face communication. The aim for guests is to answer questions as fully and honestly as they can and get a good feeling of being useful. Also, to get a better idea of how today's teenagers think.
WorkOut! is fast paced and fun as well as informative for both young people and adults.
Here are some of the questions students might ask:
- Does your job require higher qualifications?
- What are the best parts of your job?
- What do you do in your job?
- What are the highpoints of the sector you work in?
- What don’t you enjoy?
- How did you get into this job?
- What skills do you need to be good at your job?
- What was your first job and how did you get it?
- What advice would you give about work?
- What gives you motivation to do your job?
- What courses have you taken and what help have they been?
- Do you have to continue to train on the job?
