EBP Action Learning Set (EBPals)
For years we have facilitated action learning sets for budding entrepreneurs at the School for Social Entrepreneurs in London.
Now we are delivering this service in Milton Keynes, using our links as an Education Business Partnership (EBP) to bring together entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs from the local education and business communities. These are individuals who are driven to start up an education project or business venture during the year. Action learning helps them to reflect on action to improve performance.
An EBP Action Learning Set consists of six participants, three from business and three from education. The set meets six times per year for four hours, 1.30-5.30pm, in Central Milton Keynes.
During each 4-hour session, each participant takes a turn to present an issue that has to be overcome in order for the project or business to progress. After a brief introduction of the issue by the 'presenter', participants ask open questions to challenge and support the presenter in developing actions to overcome the issue. These are then recorded and reported on at next session.
Participants are usually surprised by the impact on their personal behaviour of two priniciple benefits:
- fresh perspective on an issue, which has hitherto seemed insurmountable, from a group of diverse individuals with similar entrepreneurial drives
- heightened awareness and technique in the skills of active listening and open questioning.
We will deliver this 'EBPals' service, through administration and facilitation of the six sessions, for a fee of £450 per participant (£75 per session).
In doing so we draw on experience of delivering 10 Action Learning Sets involving more than 50 participants at the School for Social Entrepreneurs.
