Emerson Valley School Welcomes Business Guests

On Tuesday 13th December, Emerson Valley School hosted four business guests.
109 Year 6 pupils participated in the event, which involved the pupils guessing their jobs and asking their own questions about what work is like. The aim was to benefit students by improving their career awareness and communication skills. The business guests benefited by finding out what today's young people think about work.
"I really enjoyed this experience I was privileged to be able to take part," said Mike Dentice from Home Retail Group. (pictured)
Teacher Caroline Pahnke said: "A very informative and enjoyable session the children were really interested and attentive."
Suzie Blackhurst, another teacher, said: "The children became more focused with their questioning as each session progressed; they were keen and eager to find out more."
One student said: “I liked it because it gave you an opportunity to ask questions about the jobs which we might want to do when we are older”.
Another student said: "I enjoyed learning about all the new skills you need to do for having a good career"
