Government consultation, Dec 2011
Removing the statutory duty to deliver work related learning at Key Stage 4
The Government wishes to consult on a proposal to remove the statutory duty to provide every young person at Key Stage 4 (aged 14-16) with work related learning including work experience. The consultation closes on 4th January.
At Countec we believe this proposal is wrong.
With one million young people unemployed, and more expected, our economy needs entrepreneurs more than ever. We believe developing employability skills through work related learning at 14-16 is essential to stimulating entrepreneurism.
We are preparing a formal response to the Government's consultation on this, and welcome your views to include in our submission. To have your say, please give us your answers to these four questions before 2nd January 2012:
- Do do you think 14-16 year olds should be provided with Work Related Learning including work experience? (YES/NO)
- What difference does Work Related Learning make to the lives of young people?
- What difference does it make to you in your business and/or personal life?
- Any other comments?
Please email your answers to info@countec.org.
See the response of the Institute of Education Business Excellence and join us in signing its petition to Government.
