Ousedale Students Get That Job!

Year 11 students at Ousedale School took part in a 'Get That Job! event on Wednesday 8th February 2012 which saw students meeting employer guests in a short 'speed dating' style format, completing an application form, shortlisting each other’s applications and finally observing or taking part in mock interviews.
The aim of the event was to help students think about different careers, understand more about employability skills such as self management, team work and problem solving and letting them practise the key stages in landing a job. The event also helped the students to improve their speaking and listening skills.
A wide range of local employers from various fields such as HR, Law and Architecture supported the students in their tasks at each stage
One Ousedale School student said ''I really enjoyed talking to different employers and finding out about their jobs and learning how to get a job''.
Another student said ''I enjoyed how enthusiastic and helpful all of the employers were who I met today''.
Emma Wyhsall from Allianz Insurance said ''I enjoyed being involved with the student's development. I hope what they have learnt will help them in the future''.
Keith Blain from TXM Recruit Ltd said “The whole event was great. I think everyone got something from it”.
Laura Phillips, teacher at Ousedale School said “The Workout session really improved the student’s confidence and skills. Many students gave eye contact and worked well as a team. The event overall worked very well”.
