Pupils Quiz Guests in Primary WorkOut! at Oxley Park

Oxley Park Primary School held its first ever Primary WorkOut! session on 19th May 2011. Five guests from the world of work took their turn to be quizzed by nearly 100 pupils about their experience of work.
"The children's quesions were really interesting," said Ali Tosh (pictured), who works for 02. "It was a very worthwhile event." Other employers represented were SNO!Zone, Design Press and Beesley & Sons Farm.
"The pupils' questions showed their interest in topics not usually discussed at school," said Nikkie Pickering of Oxley Park School. "The visitors did a fantastic job," said Doug Mace, another teacher.
"What I enjoyed most was finding out about the different jobs," said one pupil, "especially their most embarrassing moments. I'd like to do this again." More than 97% of pupils agreed or strongly agreed they both enjoyed the session and learned a lot about work.
Primary WorkOut! is a new programme run by Countec. It requires guests from the world of work to join others for 1-2 hours in a local primary school and simply answer questions.
"It made me remember why I love my job," said Paul Romans of SNOzone! "I wish this had happened when I was their age."
