Radcliffe Students WorkOut! Local Guests
On 7th July, 26 Year 10 students grilled eight guests about their experience of work. It was the first ever WorkOut! session in which most of the guests were local residents.
"It was good to step into the school," said Waheed Rehman, of GMS Security. "The way the students were getting into the topics made me feel good."
"The art of good business is being able to talk passionately about your interests," said Roger Whittaker of The Stani Gallery, "and it was a pleasure to be able to do this with the Radcliffe students. I especially liked surprising the students with some of my answers to their questions!"
Guest Paul Johnston, of Padajo Ltd, said: "I loved seeing the faces light up when they found some things out."
For the school, the WorkOut! session was a big success. Paul Dellar, teacher of Business Studies, said: "The students responded really well to the task and their interpersonal skills clearly improved as they moved around the circle."
Written feedback after the session showed every student had enjoyed and learned a lot from the session. "The best bit was learning about what different people do and how you get to that stage," wrote student Brandon Kay. "I wish it had been longer."
"I enjoyed learning about different businesses and meeting business people," said Lovelisa Varbelow. "I also learned how to make good contact."
Countec wishes to thank all the guests who attended: Waheed Rehman, Roger Whittaker, Paul Johnston, Margaret Persuad, Malcolm Harper, Emma Gatehouse, Gary Dockree and James Walker.
