Risk
Like it or not, life has risks. This is true at work, as it is at school (which is a work place). The trick to staying safe is to understand risks and control them.
Students on work experience placements are designated as employees for the purposes of health and safety – employers have the same responsibilities for the health, safety and welfare of students on work placements as they do for their own workforce.
So it is the employer who is mainly responsible for your safety at work.
But you, as an employee, must ensure you understand what you are told about how to act safely and that you follow all instructions.
