Walking To WorkOut!

Local employees faced up to tough questions from primary pupils in Countec's first ever City Centre WorkOut! session on Friday 16th September.
"Their questions were great," said Russell Riggs, Sales Manager of Blue Mountain Systems Ltd, audio visual equipment specialists in Central Milton Keynes. "I would recommend this event to a friend or colleague."
The employee guests came from various work backgrounds including accountancy, property development, HR consultancy and music (Haydn Lewis, pictured). All employee guests said they felt able to help the 16 pupils, all 9-11 year olds from Oxley Park Academy, to develop their skills.
All the pupils agreed or strongly agreed they had enjoyed the session. "I enjoyed listening to the people," said pupil Timothy King, "learning what they do and learning that you do not only need qualifications to be successful."
"What I enjoyed most about the session was talking to people that I don't know," said another pupil, Ronnie Hale. "And making eye contact."
"Our first ever City Centre WorkOut! session went smoothly," said Michael Sandison, Countec's Director of Employer Engagement. "It was easy for many of our guests to attend as we're just a short walk away from the work places here in the city centre. It was also good to be able to walk the students around our own offices and explain what it's like in a social enterprise."
If you would like to participate as a Guest employee at a City Centre WorkOut!, any Friday 1.30-3pm in school term time, check our website further details and/or contact info@countec.org.
