Wavendon Gate Primary welcomes guests from the World of Work

On Thursday 26th January 2012, Wavendon Gate Primary School hosted four business guests.
113 Year 5 and 6 pupils participated in the event, which involved the pupils guessing their jobs and asking their own questions about what work is like. The aim was to benefit students by improving their career awareness and communication skills. The business guests benefited by finding out what today's young people think about work.
Nicola Barnes, Home Retail Group said “It was very interesting to hear how pupils view work and to know that they might have drawn some inspiration from the event''.
One student said, “It helped me to think about what I would like to do for a job. I enjoyed learning about the different jobs and how the jobs are done".
Another student said, "What I enjoyed the most was learning about jobs and what skills are neccesary for them".
"An enjoyable and interesting afternoon which should provoke more thought and discussion" said a Wavendon Gate Teacher.
