Doing well in work is a way of succeeding in life, a way of getting respect from others. It's also a way of getting money. But jobs don't usually come easily. Usually you have to show an employer what you have done well before you will get respect and pay.
80% of employers say they won't consider offering a job to someone who can't show a track record of successful work experience. Your record of work experience is a passport to paid work.
The better you do in work experience, the better your record, the more you will impress an employer when going for a real job. If you prepare well for a work placement, and demonstrate employability skills in placement, you will be starting on a journey to the job of your dreams.
And if you are well motivated and successful in work, there is a good chance you will improve your performance in school subjects.
